Monkey’s birthday, part 2

Monkey’s birthday party was on Saturday and he had a blast! But it wouldn’t be Awkward Moment Monday without a picture of the epic fail cream puffs I tried to make for his party. I have no idea what went wrong. I followed the recipe exactly! I ended up just buying some store cream puffs and letting Monkey eat the filling I made.

At least the cookies turned out well! Monkey wanted a Pokemon themed party, so I went all out with the cookies and other themed food.

I was so exhausted by the time his party started. A big shout out to my concealer and Diet Pepsi for helping me pretend to be well rested.

This was Monkey’s favourite part of the whole party, and he was seriously disappointed when we ran out! It’s just blue Hawaiian punch, 7 Up, and pineapple juice, but the Squirtle label made it magical for him.

This guy was the real star of the show though. If you ever need a roast pig in Edmonton, get it from Kuya Allan’s Lechon! It’s the best pork I’ve ever had.

Oh, and for the awkward moment moral of the week, don’t attempt a brand new baking technique the day before your kid’s birthday party. Just buy the stuff from the store. It’s fine. You don’t have to be a Pinterest mom.
